Natalie Portman who is originally known as Neta-Lee Hershlag was born on June 9, 1981. She was given birth to in Jerusalem, Israel. Her father Avner Hershlag is a Doctor (infertility specialist) Who is born in Israel and her mother Shelley Stevens who is an American born artist from Cincinnati, Ohio, Natalie’s mother is also her agent, she is their only child.

INTRODUCTION:

Natalie Portman is an American-Isreali actress, producer and film director with dual citizenship. She was first known for her role in the thriller action movie “The Professional” Léon in 1994, She starred with French actor Jean Reno as an adolescent girl who was being trained to be an assassin after her parents have been murdered. Also, she was among the cast in Star Wars prequels as Queen Amidala. While Natalie was still a child, her parents immigrated to the United States, they first lived in Washington DC and then later settled in Long Island.

FACTS ABOUT HER CHILDHOOD DAYS & CAREER:

Natalie Portman grew up on Long Island, New York, where she attended Syosset High School. Natalie was discovered by a representative of Revlon cosmetics at a local pizza parlor and he encouraged her to pursue a modeling career, then she began her modeling career at the age of 11. However, she didn’t found modeling interesting enough and she decided to face acting squarely.

HOW SHE COMPLETED HER EDUCATION:

While continuing with her career, Natalie earned a degree in psychology from Harvard University. Despite her acting career, Portman still remained committed to her education, she graduated with honors from Harvard University in June 2003. She loved school so much that most of her classmates considered her to be a dork.

She also won the 2010 Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of a troubled ballerina in the Darren Aronofsky’s movie “Black Swan”.

In 2009, Natalie Portman started dating Benjamin Millepied who is a ballet dancer, they met on the set of the movie “Black Swan”. The couple announced their engagement in 2010, Portman gave birth to their first child, Aleph Portman-Millepied on June 14, 2011. Natalie and Millepied got wedded in August 2012. According to People magazine, the wedding was attended by different celebrities, such as Macaulay Culkin, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. Natalie gave birth to their second child, a daughter Amalia on February 22, 2017.

FACTS ABOUT HER LIFE:

The funny fact you don’t know is that When Natalie Portman was at the age of eight she stopped eating meat because of her conscience. At first, she followed her dad to a medical conference where they were demonstrating laser surgery on a chicken. And at that point, she made the resolution that animals were killed for meat. She had always been thinking that animals died and then they are being eaten by people. Her parents thought she would get over it that she was just in a phase of her life but it definitely wasn’t what they thought.

CONSERVATIVE FACTS ON HER CHILDHOOD DAYS :

Secondly, when she was in 6th grade after dissecting a fish, miraculously she stopped eating fish too. Thirdly, she also stopped the consumption of gelatin in the year 1995  and fourthly, in the year 1997 she stopped eating cheese because she thought it can contain rennet, and this rennet is gotten from animals stomachs. And her parents have no choice but to support her, meanwhile, they are not vegetarians.

SPENT TIME IN THEATER CAMP & LIVING ACTRESS LIFE WITH SCHOOLING:

Natalie Portman was in Hollywood on her fifteenth birthday and spent four hours dressing up and putting on an appearance at an AIDS charity event. She spent her summer at the theater camp in the Catskills.

Being an actress, traveling and attending school all at the same time is somewhat challenging, their rehearsals are 6 days in a week, seven hours per day and some other times 6 hours if their performance is good. For School days, she wakes up at 7:15 am, clean, eat, pack her school bag and leave for school at 8:00 am,  she attends the English class, physics, and gymnastics. A car will pick her up at school at 10:30 am and drives her to Manhattan which is a 1-hour drive from school. Rehearsal begins immediately on getting there at 11:30. They break for lunch from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and during the lunch break time, she is being tutored in one of the classes that she had missed at school which may likely be history, French, math or Japanese subject. Rehearsal ends by 7:30 PM, and she gets tutored again from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. On weekends, she gets tutored before and after work both on Saturday and on Sunday. A car drives her home every day, and when she gets home, she goes to sleep.

 SHE ATTENDED FULL-TIME SCHOOL :

After a month of rehearsal, she will leave for Boston where the show is being opened, they would have fixed everything that is necessary, and she will prepare to go back to New York City. They will open again in December in New York City and perform eight shows a week. They do have Mondays off and do two shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays. While she is on Broadway, she will go to school full-time. Her schedule sounds hectic right? And yes it is!. And again, she is always working towards finishing her homework, study for school tests, learn some lines on Scripts.

HER RESERVED TIME WITH FRIENDS AND PERFECT SCHEDULE

She goes out with her friends at least once in a week, and this maintains her energy because she has a balanced work, school and a time to play with her friends. Her friends are the greatest friends in the world because they are fun to be with, nice, and they have never acted weird about her being an actress.

SHE ADOPTED HER SURNAME FROM SOMEONE:

Another funny thing is that Natalie adopted Portman which is her grandmother’s maiden name as her stage name in order to protect her family life and image in case her performance would be unsatisfactory when she started her acting career. Obviously, this wasn’t the case.

In May 2008, Portman served as the youngest member of the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival jury in May 2008. The same year she directed a segment of the collective film New York ” I Love You”.
